Just a quick note to remind you that the U12 and U14’s will play from 10h00 to 12h00 and the U16 and U18’s will play from 8h00 to 10h00 starting this Saturday 28th January.

Nicky will be in the tuckshop from 9h30 to 10h30 to discuss uniforms so please come in and talk to her on Saturday. Details for payment will be given to you by Nicky.

Letters for the school your child attends will be ready to hand out next week. We have found over the years that the most efficient way to do this is to give each child the letter and ask them to hand it into the school.

A stringer is at Ellis Park on a Saturday mornings for your convenience.

Gauteng Central Provincial player Jared Thompson and pupil at Sacred Heart College obtained 3 distinctions in his matric. He has been granted a tennis scholarship to the University of Alabama in the United States where he will be studying English Literature.

Well done Jared – we are so proud of you and we wish you the best of luck in the States. Please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing from time to time.

Squad Invitations

Squad invitations for 2012 have been sent out to players. The first squad session will be held at Ellis Park on the 21 January 2012 at 08h30. This will be a playing session for the juniors as well as an information session for all parents. Please remember that membership of the squad is only secured on proof of payment – payment details may be found in your personal squad invitation.

We are fortunate enough to be able to continue to use the services of the visiting professional coaches (Gaynor Harris, Marius Masencamp, Neville Godwin and Erik Van Eck ) who will take it in turns to be at Ellis Park on Saturday mornings as well as Clive Watkinson our resident professional coach and the very dynamic Greer Leo-Smith whose expertise is well known.

Year-End – Players of 2011

The final squad of 2011 was held on Saturday morning at Ellis Park with all ages playing together until 10h00. Unfortunately the turn out in the older age group was very small but the younger members made up the numbers. After squad Wendy Addison presented four players – i.e. junior girl- Imaan Hassim, junior boy – Christiaan Brandt, senior girl – Buhle Nkosi and senior boy – Aidan Carrezedo with trophies. A braai followed afterwhich everyone said their goodbyes until next year.

Reminder for Last Squad of 2011

Christmas is almost upon us already. I can’t believe how quickly this year has flown by and we are at the last squad already. As I said in my last email everyone will play from 07h45 until 10h00 and we will then have the presentation of junior girl and boy of the year and senior girl and boy of the year and a bring and braai. Please could you let me know if you will be staying for the braai so that I have an idea of numbers for drinks and rolls. Thank you to those Mum’s who have agreed to bring salads on Saturday. I haven’t heard from too many of you regarding attendance but hope that we have a good turn out nevertheless.

Last Squad for 2011

The last squad of the year is on Saturday 26th November and all ages must report at 07h45 and play until 10h00 with Neville Godwin as the visiting coach. We will then have a presentation and a bring and braai. Please could you let me know if you will be staying for the braai so that I have an idea of numbers for drinks and rolls. I would also ask any of the “Mums” to let me know if they would be prepared to bring a salad. If so, please contact me during the week.

GC Vets on the Move

35 Veterans from around South Africa have been selected to participate in the ITF Seniors World Team championships which will be hosted at various venues in San Diego. Thereafter the players will then go on to play in the Individual ITF World Championships in their respective age groups.

Gauteng Central is pleased to announce that the following vets from our province have been included:
