Invitation letters have already been sent to players who have been selected for the 2011 Gauteng Central Junior Provincial Squad.
For those of you that have been members before please note that considerable changes are envisaged for 2011 with a more ‘match based squad’ being developed.
To assist us in our endevours we are very fortunate to have the services of visiting top professional coaches who will join Clive Watkinson who is our resident provincial coach. These include Neville Godwin, Gaynor Harris, Marius Masencamp and Eric van Eck. Added to this we will have the expertise of Greer Stevens who will develop the tactical aspect of your game. Greer was a top 10 singles and doubles player as well as a three time Grand Slam doubles winner. You will be able to learn a great deal from her. Joining us at Ellis Park once a month will be a Sport Psychologist and a Fitness and Movement specialist who will show you how to prevent injury and enhance your playing ability. Matches against neighbouring provinces have been organised for each term with a further match against the North West province. We aim to get Gauteng Central back in its rightful place as the top province in the country. Although the official SATA interprovincial for 2011 is for the Under 18 age group only, as a province we will be organising inter-provincial matches for the other age groups. We will also participate in the Under 13, Under 15, and Under 19 schools tournaments in 2011.
The first squad session will be held at Ellis Park on the 15th January 2011 at 08h30. This will be a playing session for the juniors as well as an information session for all parents.
