This years Bundes league is already showing signs of being a repeat of the past two seasons.
In the men Bedfordview followed up their win on the first weekend with a 20-7 win over Fairlands to be the only side with a perfect record after the second weekends fixtures.
Old Eds recorded their first win with an 18-8 victory over Bryanston Sports Club, winning four of the singles and two of the three doubles. Marks Park also got their season off to winning ways with a 19-5 victory over Morningside. Bryanston look to be the early runners to take the “wooden spoon” as they are the only side without a win so far.
In the ladies, it is clear that Bryanston Sports Club is head and shoulders above the rest of the teams. They had an unblemished win over Old Eds without dropping a set. Former tour player, Rene Plant came in for the injured Gaynor Ford and showed her class dropping just two games playing at number two. Marks Park A has also won their opening two matches beating Bedfordview 14-5, and this after they lead by just one set after the singles.
In the other match Boskruin beat the hapless Marks Park B side without dropping a set.
Old Eds and Marks Park B are still searching for their first win.
So the pattern has already emerged with the two title holders again laying down the gauntlet, and as in the past it would take a brave person to wager any money on any of the other teams.
