Both the reigning champions recorded their second win in as many weeks to ensure that they stay on course for a repeat performance.
Both Marks Park men and ladies teams won, but the men were given a scare when their two top men both lost their singles matches. But strength in depth ensured that the remaining four players were too good for Bryanston Sports club, and they ran out 17-6 winners at the end.
Old Edwardians, also lost their opening two singles matches with their two younger players proving no match for their experienced Northern Suburbs counterparts, but again they won the remaining four matches as well as two of the doubles to record their first win 18-8.
Fairlands beat Morningside 18-3 for Morningside still winless after the opening two rounds of matches, and Fairlands join Marks Park as the only teams to have won their opening two matches.
In the ladies Marks Park won four out of the six matches to beat Boskruin 13-5, while Old Edwardians accounted for Fairlands 14-6 only cementing their win by taking both the doubles matches in three sets.
Bryanston Sports club, the only team that looks capable of challenging Marks Park, had a bye, and their clash this coming Saturday will go a long way to deciding who wears the crown this year.
