Kevin Anderson out of French Open

South Africa’s Kevin Anderson has crashed out of the French Open, losing 4-6, 2-6, 6-1, 5-7 to 36-year-old Stephane Robert of France in the first round of the tournament.

Anderson who suffered a woeful start to 2016, underwent surgery for a troublesome ankle injury in March. He also struggled with a knee and shoulder injury early in the year.

He returned to action at the Madrid Open at the start of May and reached the quarter-finals of the Nice open last week before losing in straight sets to Portugal’s Joao Sousa.
