Good week for SA Players

on

It was a positive weekend of tennis for three of our Davis Cup players, Ruan Roelofse, Raven Klaasen and Nik Scholtz, as they all reached the finals of their respective tournaments in Europe and Africa, respectively.
Ruan, and his partner, Christopher Rungkat, won the final of the men’s doubles on Saturday at the Lisboa Belém Open (Challenger) in Portugal. They beat the Portugese duo of Gil and Oliveira, 7-6 and 6-1, to lift the trophy.
Meanwhile, Raven, and partner, Rajeev Ram, reached the doubles final of the ATP 250 Ricoh Open in the Netherlands. Unfortunately they lost 3-6 and 4-6 to number 1 seeds, Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo, in the final.
Finally, Nik Scholtz came back from a set down to win the Zimbabwe F1 futures singles: 2-6, 6-3 & 6-0. He beat 7th seed, Lucas Catarina, of Monaco, in the final in Harare. Nik was also a losing doubles finalist in the same event.
