Ex Gauteng Central junior provincial player Sebastian Wernecke has been appointed Head Tennis Pro this season at The Old Field Club in East Setauket, New York.
A brief summary of Seb (in his own words – credit The Old Field Club website):
“I was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, before moving to North Carolina on a tennis scholarship, to compete for Pfeiffer University. Upon graduation I moved to Austin, Texas, to be a part of the Tennis Professional staff at The World of Tennis, which is a part of the ClubCorp country club family. During this time I began my graduate studies in Sports Medicine and Management and was given the opportunity to move to Long Island to be a part of the Sportime Tennis Professional team in Kings Park.
Previous to my American experience I competed locally and internationally on the junior ITF circuit. Additionally, during the period of 2009-2011 I was a part of the team hosting of the ATP 250 event in Johannesburg, ITF Challenger events in Soweto, and was the direct assistant to the President of Tennis South Africa during the Davis Cup ties hosted in Potchefstroom.
Right now I look forward to the the summer of 2017 to be able to share my passion for the game of tennis with you all.”
We wish you everything of the best Seb – you have made us so proud!
