The 30-year-old from Limpopo, ranked number 8 globally was named the Athlete of the year with disability for the third time after she scooped the same accolade in 2013 and 2016.

“Thank you for this award. I’m truly honoured to be crowned once again. It is even a greater honour to be placed in such distinguished ranks of all phenomenal women in sport who have made important contributions”, said Montjane.
“Special thanks to God for making all these possible, my family for their continued support, Wheelchair Tennis South Africa who awarded me an opportunity to play the sport, my coach, Team KG and everyone who voted for me.
“Thank you to the gsport team for the great job of honouring women who make a difference, honourable Minister of Sport for the great support to women sport and to the sponsors for making this event possible”, added Montjane.
Montjane will be in action at the US Open Super Series tournament starting tomorrow in St. Louis, USA. The Super Series will be a lead up event ahead of the US Open Grand Slam to be held from 7-10 September at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre in Flushing Meadow, New York.
