We have normal squad this Saturday 5 May from 08h30to 10h30 followed by two weekends of the Mini Series at Ellis Park. Those of you not playing the mini series will not have squad as unfortunately we need all the courts for the tournament.
That brings us to Saturday 26 May when we are playing a friendly match against Gauteng East. I need 4 players in each age group, Under 10, 12, 14 and 16 boys and girls (8 per age group). Please let me know if you are available to be part of the team before I go ‘outside’ the squad should we run short on numbers. I will confirm with you but I did arrange with Ken Smith of Gauteng East that the U10 and 12’s play at Ellis Park and the under 14 and 16’s play at Benoni.
We then move onto 2 more squad mornings, 5 and 9 June before another GC tournament starting on the afternoon of 15 June and running until Sunday 17th June 2018. This is another good tournament to play as it should be quite small and right on your door step!
Schools break up on 22 June and you have the Gauteng Central Growthpoint Super 8 tournament at Ellis Park from 3 to 8 July followed by Gauteng East Growthpoint Super 8 in Benoni from 9 to 14 July. Do try and play both of these important tournaments as it gives you a very good idea how you stand in your age group in the country. Both tournaments attract the best players in SA which lifts the standard of tennis played and gives added ranking points.
The first term has been a great success thanks to everybody who has made the effort to come to Ellis Park on Saturdays. It is thanks to your support, both parents and players that the squad is a success.
