A highly successful first ever Wiphold Next Gen Fed Cup camp was held at the Bryanston Sports Club this past weekend.
The four day camp concluded with a singles and doubles tournament to measure the current competitive strength of the camp attendees. In the singles – the top four places were as follows:
Winner: Ilze Hattingh
Runner-up: Theresa van Zyl
3rd place: Jessica Khats
4th place: Imman Hassim
Meanwhile in the doubles, Hattingh and van Zyl teamed up to beat Khats and Shannon Cox in the final .
Speaking at the conclusion of the camp, South African Fed Cup Captain, Rene Plant commented: “It was an amazing four days of camaraderie off the court and a hard work ethic on the court. The players networked with the current crop of college players and received valuable information. The fitness and mental toughness sessions were of tremendous value and the tournament was fiercely competitive, but played in an excellent spirit.”
Special thanks to Bryanston Sports Club and Wiphold for making this maiden Next Gen camp a success.
