Tennis South Africa has confirmed its new panel of junior national selectors. The selectors are as follows: Asnath Sebati (Western Cape), MC Olivier (Free State), Terrey Schweitzer (Gauteng) and Liza-Mari Olivier (North West).
The term of the new selection panel has begun and runs until the end of March 2021. The end date being in line with the conclusion of TSA’s financial year. The selection panel will be convened by the TSA high-performance manager.
The selectors will be responsible for the selection of all TSA Junior National Teams (from U12 to U18) – as well as the Junior National Squads that will be announced at the end of the TSA Junior Masters in October of each year.
The four selectors are looking forward to their tenure:
Asnath Sebati: “This is an exciting time for tennis in South Africa and it is an honour to be part of it as a national selector. There is a lot of responsibility in selecting the right teams and I am confident that I will make positive contributions within the panel of selectors.”
MC Olivier: “It is a great honour for me to once again be part of the selection committee for the term 2019-2021. I look forward to giving back to the sport that we all love and in doing so contribute and help make a difference in Tennis South Africa. I feel the experience that I have gained as a selector in the previous term will serve me well going into the next term. There are a lot of positive things currently happening in Tennis South Africa and being part of that is very exciting. ”
Terrey Schweitzer: “I am excited about and look forward to being involved and making a valued impact to a great team of selectors. Scouting and identifying our talented juniors and understanding the junior player pathway and development, as well as building comprehensive player profiles are very close to my heart in ensuring that the best teams and squads are selected in a fair and objective way. “
Liza-Mari Olivier: “I am grateful and excited for the trust that TSA has put in me, together with the other selectors, to make a positive impact on South Africa’s junior tennis. It is not often that you are given the opportunity to make a difference. I feel confident that I can make a significant contribution to the selection process of our juniors and are looking forward to sending South Africa’s finest young ambassadors to do what we do best. Play tennis!”
