SA’s Harris blown away in Adelaide final by red-hot Rublev

South African Lloyd Harris’ gallant run at the Adelaide International ended in defeat in the final against Russia’s Andrey Rublev.

Rublev romped to victory in just 57 minutes, winning 6-3, 6-0, making it back-to-back titles for the 22-year-old after claiming victory at the Qatar Open in Doha last week.

Harris can console himself in the knowledge that his performance Down Under will see his ranking rise to a new high of 72nd on Monday.

Rublev, meanwhile, is now the 16th-ranked player in the ATP rankings.

Harris faces a tough opener against 14th-seeded Argentine Diego Schwartzman in Round 1 of next week’s Australian Open, while Rublev should have little trouble dispatching local wild card Christopher O’Connell.
