South African qualifier Lloyd Harris on Wednesday continued his dream run at the ATP 500 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships with a upset straight set (7-6 6-4) win over 14th seed Filip Krajinovic of Serbia.
On Tuesday, Capetonian Harris had stunned top seed and US Open champion Dominic Thiem in straight sets in what was the biggest win of his career.
The 24-year-old South African is enjoying a great run this month, having also beaten three-time Grand Slam winner Stan Wawrinka in the Qatar Open last week after coming through the qualifying rounds.
On Thursday, Harris will face Kei Nishikori, the 2014 US Open runner-up, in Dubai quarterfinals. The match is scheduled be shown live on SuperSport Thursday at 17h00 SA time.
The comfortable win on Wednesday helped Harris earn a place in the quarterfinals, a remarkable achievement for a player who had come through the qualifying rounds in Dubai.
